The American Ambassador, Molly Bordonaro, accompanied by the Press and Cultural Affairs Attaché, Jeffrey Anderson, recently presented a collection of 143 hard-bound books from the Library of America series to the principal of the University's Junior College, Godfrey Muscat, and the vice-principal, Joseph Sciriha.

This is the second time in a few months that the Ambassador visited the Junior College and presented books to the college library.

The Library of America undertakes to preserve the nation's cultural heritage by publishing America's best and most significant writing in durable and authoritative editions and to make it accessible to readers around the world.

The collection covers literature, poetry, history, politics, art, cinema, journalism, travel, biographies and memoirs. In previous years, the US Embassy presented the Library of America series to the University of Malta, MCAST, the Gozo Public Library and the Public Lending Library. These prestigious volumes enhance the collections in the libraries of Malta and Gozo with a treasure of knowledge of America's literary heritage.

Ambassador Bordonaro and Mr Muscat both spoke of the positive approach being taken by the US Embassy in reaching out to Maltese youth and in raising an awareness of US culture and society.

Professor Charles J. Farrugia, chairman of the Junior College Board, was also present on this occasion.
