Two Libyans have been jailed for robbing a woman of her bag containing Lm1,700 in cash.

Khaled El Bahlul Masaud, 36, was jailed for 18 months while 29-year-old Nafaa Ali Arbi Ossta was jailed for 13 months for stealing Maria Cauchi's bag and slightly injuring her on February 2 in Birkirkara.

Mr Masaud alone was also found guilty of the possession of a penknife used to rob Ms Cauchi.

Police Inspector Carmelo Magri and Victor Aquilina prosecuted.
