A cash donation by Go Mobile will be used by the Island Sanctuary to build a professionally-equipped recovery room for injured animals within the sanctuary itself.
The room needs to be equipped with basic medical facilities in order to ensure that strays receive adequate care.
Go Mobile will also be offering the volunteers a substantial amount of free mobile phone calls so as to contact vets on a mobile line. The free Go Mobile hotline will enable the dogs housed at the Sanctuary to receive immediate veterinary care as volunteers often need to spend a considerable amount of time on the line in order to resolve medical issues.
The Island Sanctuary, one of the oldest animal shelters in Malta, is located in Fort Tas-Silg, Delimara. The shelter offers a home to over 150 dogs with care and food being provided by volunteers.
All dogs residing there are spayed or neutered and it's a strict policy that no dog is put to sleep unless it's an absolute medical requirement, a spokesman for the shelter said.
