It was such a pleasure to see the picture of the clock tower in Vittoriosa in all its glory in The Times (December 19). I have just returned to the US from my visit to Malta. I met many old friends in Vittoriosa, especially Emanuel Attard, who was in favour of the restoration of the tower, and Charles Brincat, to whom I want to give a big prosit for the replica of the tower that he built.

Incidentally, it was the first time I have ever seen it as a whole, and if Mr Brincat is reading this I want to thank him for the book on the festa of San Lawrenz, where we feature all together in the picture taken at Azzjoni Kattolika Tesserament in 1950-51.

So hopefully on my next visit I will see the tower built and go inside it, not play on its rubble like we used to do after the war.

Am I right to say that the picture in The Times was taken from the dahla side of Vittoriosa?

Keep up the good work.
