The show offers an eclectic mix of the trepidation faced by the courageous Maltese, the sensuality that undoubtedly the Turkish harem brought with it and the final triumph that our ancestors had over the devious Turks.
The wardrobe people must have had a lovely time putting all the costumes together - they are simply stunning and wonderfully detailed. The music is heart-rending and really touching especially when Grandmaster LaVallette mourns his dead.
It is a first to have a show exploring such a fine piece of history complete with real muskets, cavalry, dancers and also a love story thrown in for good measure.
I truly encourage the young and old to see the show which is staged at the Power House Theatre at the Valletta Waterfront. It is especially suited to older children who are currently reading our island's colourful history. The show will definitely drive the history home. A huge well done to all involved for a job truly well done.
