Maltapost's manager regulatory and international affairs, Henry Gauci, has been chosen as the Employee of the Year for 2006 at the annual meeting for Maltapost staff, held at the Radisson SAS Baypoint Resort.
Mr Gauci, who is stationed at Maltapost's Marsa head office, carries out duties covering all aspects of international affairs, overseeing Maltapost's affiliation to international postal bodies as well as attending international postal forums.
Having started out as a postman over 35 years ago, Mr Gauci was presented with the Employee of the Year Trophy by Maltapost chairman David Stellini and chief executive officer Joseph Gafà.
Other awards were made to postal employees Charles Borg and Jesmond Pace who were chosen as Retail Employees of the Year; Robert Borg, Best Employee at Head Office; Joe Bonanno, Best CMR Employee; Paul Costa, Best Delivery and Courier Employee and Sammy Camilleri, winner of the Best Employee Suggestion Award.
A number of postal employees were presented with awards marking their 40, 35 and 30 years of postal service. Joseph Falzon received an award for 40 years of service and 35-year awards were presented to Charles Camilleri and Henry Gauci.
Thirty-year service awards were presented to Joseph Theuma, Vincent Zahra, Paul Costa, Henry Hall, Alfred Azzopardi, Mario Vella, Luciano Bonnici, Anthony Zahra, Joseph Grima, Carmel Bugeja, Emanuel Rapa, Lino Angelo Galea, Joseph Armeni, Joseph Azzopardi, Noel Gauci, Joseph Xuereb and Alfred Cutajar.
