Last weekend, Marsa and Krishna clashed in the Winter League, the last game of the year.

Winning the toss, Krishna elected to bat first. Sasha Stevenson and Sam Dhandapani opened the batting. They made an opening partnership of 49 runs before Stevenson was caught behind for 20. He hit the only boundary for the Krishna team.

Dhandapani went on to make 33 runs before being bowled by Jim Towers. The latter went on to take two more wickets in a match-winning performance during which only 22 runs were taken off his five overs.

Mark Sacco continued where he left off the previous week. Again, he was unbeaten with 24 runs.

The Marsa bowlers gave away too many wides which in this competition are counted as two runs plus an extra ball to bowl.

They had 28 wides in all to push Krishna's total to 147 runs.

The Marsa batsmen chased down the score in style. The opening pair of Mike Caruana and Mark G. Sacco put on 103 runs before Sacco was caught for 48 runs. He managed four 4s, the best for any batsman on the day.

Caruana went on to make his second 50 in a row and was run out on the first ball of the last over for 52 runs.

Javed Shah made the difference in the batting, hitting 23 runs including a 6 and a 4. He made these runs from 15 balls faced.

Marsa made the runs with three balls to spare. Roman was the only wicket-taker for Krishna.

There will be a long break due to the Christmas festivities and ground maintenance during January. The next league game will be in February.
