'No plans to install incinerators'

Alternattiva Demokratika yesterday called on the government to release a report that advises it where to locate incinerators.

AD also insisted that before signing agreements which commit the country to strategies for energy and waste management, the results of the waste strategy review should be made public.

The Ministry for the Environment however denied that it had any plans for the installation of incinerators. It said the government is to sign a memorandum of understanding with the German government which will make use of technical advice to evaluate all possibilities before any decision is taken.

The ministry also said that a waste management strategy will be published for public consultation shortly.
