Charles Yuri Agius, 34, of Qormi, was yesterday charged with attempting to grievously injure police sergeant Carmel Zammit on February 27, 2005.

Mr Agius was accused of driving a van in the direction of the policeman and disregarding legitimate police orders.

Inspector Raymond D'Anastas prosecuted.

Lawyer Franco Debono appeared for the accused.
