The new Community Training Learning Centre (CTLC) at the Richmond Foundation was officially inaugurated by IT Minister Austin Gatt last week. This is the fifth CTLC to be opened in Malta, providing access to new technologies and the opportunity of further learning in the community. All five centres are sponsored and supported by Hewlett-Packard.
HP believes that the smallest of small businesses represent a powerful economic engine. By learning how to apply information and communications technology (ICT) effectively, these businesses can overcome typical hurdles to growth, such as low productivity, a lack of competitiveness and the limited skill level of owners and workers.
"Through its sponsorship of this centre, HP is offering Maltese citizens better opportunities by providing a further education for anyone who would like to learn more about technology, Ing. Raphael Micallef Trigona, managing director of Systec Limited, authorised distribution and service delivery partner of HP in Malta, said.
"The company believes that this is an excellent strategy to eventually close the gap between communities that are fluent in technology and those who are not."
MAP (the Micro Enterprise Acceleration Programme) is sponsored by Hewlett-Packard. The MAP solution includes a fully operational, ready-to-go MAP training centre, HP equipment, 19-module curriculum, professional training of trainers (TOT) and support.
The other four CTLCs that have been supported by HP are at the Access Centre in Vittoriosa, the National Council of Women's offices in Blata l-Bajda, the Eden Foundation complex at Bulebel, and at the premises of the Union Haddiema Maghqudin.
The first centre in Gozo is also expected to open soon.
