Labour Party leader Alfred Sant yesterday had a consultation meeting with a delegation from the Diocesan Commission for the Family (DCF) on the party's draft plan for the family.

The plan will be discussed during the forthcoming MLP general conference in January.

Dr Sant said Labour strongly believed in the fundamental values of the family but at the same time there was need to take into account the economic and social circumstances that changed with time.

Marcelle Delicata, who represented the commission, said the DCF appreciated the process being adopted by the MLP, but while the draft plan gave an extensive analysis of the situation of the family today, it failed to give a definition of what the family institution is.
