Holocaust denial deplored

Studenti Demokristjani Maltin (SDM) expressed concern at the statements by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad when he questioned the historical reality of the holocaust.

SDM believes it is highly inappropriate and distasteful on Mr Ahmadinejad's part to express such an opinion a day after the international Human Rights Day celebrated by the United Nations.

The student movement said it always believed in the sanctity of life and the importance of human rights and that the holocaust is a tragedy from which we must all draw vital lessons.

SDM said it hoped Mr Ahmadinejad will refrain from making such remarks and will acknowledge the atrocities committed in the holocaust.
