A person assigned to perform security duties at the law courts between October and November this year is undergoing court proceedings for allegedly causing grievous bodily harm, Justice Minister Tonio Borg said in Parliament yesterday.
Replying to a parliamentary question by Josè Herrera (MLP) Dr Borg said the person (who was not identified) had been assigned to work at the law courts by Sterling Security Co. Ltd, which had won the contract for security duties at the law courts after a call for tenders.
This person worked at the law courts between October 4 and November 24, 2006, after which the company did not send him there any more.
Dr Borg said this person had a clean police conduct sheet but investigations had found that he is undergoing criminal proceedings before the Magistrates' Court for allegedly causing grievous injuries.
