A number of gnomes appeared out of nowhere on the Kappara roundabout soon after it was festooned with Christmas light panels.

Peter Calamatta, chairman of the Environment Landscaping Consortium, has no idea where the gnomes came from or who placed them on the roundabout, but augured that more of them will sprout in the coming days when more roundabouts will be similarly adorned.

The Urban Development Ministry in collaboration with ELC has provided the funds to light up similar areas in Mellieha, Qormi, Mosta and Blata l-Bajda.

The ELC, a private public partnership, is responsible for the planting of flowers in roundabouts and centre strips and their upkeep.
