Swatar made a pastoral zone
Archbishop Joseph Mercieca has established the Swatar territory as an autonomous pastoral zone in regard to the pastoral needs of residents.
Formerly Swatar used to form part of the territory of the Birkirkara (St Helen) and Msida parishes.
Mgr Mercieca has appointed Fr Gordon Refalo as rector of the church dedicated to Our Lady, Mother of the Church.
Fr Refalo has been serving in the zone for the past 18 months.
