A 34-year-old man was yesterday charged with setting fire to a lock-up at the Sliema police station last week.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera heard Anthony Alexander Mallia of Valletta plead not guilty to threatening three police officers in Sliema on November 27 at about 1.30 p.m.
He was also charged with causing damage to the lock-up later that day, at about 3 p.m., when he set it on fire and with slightly injuring four officers.
Magistrate Scerri Herrera granted him bail against a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.
Police Inspector Malcolm Spiteri prosecuted.
Lawyers Josè Herrera and Roberto Montalto were defence counsel.
