A 60-year-old man was yesterday charged with defiling his 12-year-old neighbour on and before October this year.

The man pleaded not guilty to defiling the young boy, to violent indecent assault and to offending public morals.

He was remanded in custody.

His name is not being published to protect the identity of the minor.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera presided over the case.

Police Inspector Louise Calleja prosecuted.

Lawyer Franco Debono appeared for the man.
