The news of the nomination of the new Archbishop of Malta, Mgr Paul Cremona, reached Tripoli last Saturday at about 7 p.m. during a gathering of a group of co-nationals at the Maltese Embassy rehearsing Maltese traditional Christmas carols in preparation for the season's activities in Tripoli.

All rejoiced at the news and gave thanks to God for our new Shepherd the following day during the Sunday evening Mass celebrated by myself at St Francis church, another meeting point of Maltese in Tripoli.

This is another occasion that shows the link between the Church in Malta and our church in Libya. All our best wishes and prayers to Mgr Cremona, the new Archbishop of Malta!
