Accident waiting to happen

The Roads Minister should look into, and take steps to remedy, what has been an accident waiting to happen for many months. I refer to the second hairpin bend on the serpentine going up from Mellieha Bay on the Mellieha bypass.

At this point, the inside wall is multi-coloured in parallel lines as various vehicles, which may have driven dangerously close, deposited paintwork to render a spectrum of colours along the bend in question.

Several months ago the brickwork was still in place, albeit bulging out onto the roadway. Within the last few weeks, however, a sizeable portion of brickwork collapsed onto the roadway.

This road is unlit at nightime, and even in daylight this situation poses more than just a minor hazard to the unsuspecting motorist.

The entire wall along this portion of roadway should be dismantled and a safety barrier erected in its place.
