Seven Maltese drivers will be taking part in this week's third Prix de Malte, organised by the French association SECF at the Vincennes racetrack in Paris.
Charles Camilleri, Noel Baldacchino, Frencu Cassar, George Schembri, Carmelo Farrugia and Tony Demanuele earned the right to participate in the Prix de Malte after finishing in the top positions in the drivers' rankings at the end of the past season. They will be joined by Charles Degiorgio who is currently earning his living as a trainer and driver in Sweden.
The Prix de Malte will be held over a distance of 2,100 metres with autostart. Michel Lenoir and Thierry Duvaldestin were the winners of the first two Prix de Malte races. The Maltese drivers will be looking to win the race for the first time on Friday despite the competition of seven other drivers from France.
The Malta Racing Club will be represented by chairman George Fenech and secretary general Tony DeBono.
During their stay, the Maltese delegation will visit the Grosbois training facilities and watch two races at Vincennes - the Prix du Bourbonnais, one of the build-up events for the prestigious Prix d'Amerique, and the Criterium race for three-year old trotters.
