Cubs and scouts from the First Cospicua Scout Group helped handle a ton of rice in a gesture of solidarity with needy people.
The rice was for Dar it-Tama from the EU's programme to help the most deprived persons.
The local contact for the programme is the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment. Around 1,000 kilos of rice were delivered to Dar it-Tama for onward distribution to the many families helped by that organisation.
The cubs had to carry the rice up a flight of more than 60 stairs, for which Cospicua is so renowned, to Dar it-Tama.
The cubs and scouts are encouraged to take part in community activities in their home town as part of character building activities that the scouts organise for their members.
In another activity, the older and adult members of the group used their abseiling and climbing skills to clear the sloping wall in the vicinity of St Helen's Gate of the accumulation of weeds and wild bushes that had grown there.
