An informative seminar, organised by the Intellectual Disabilities Programme, was recently held at Ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija. The seminar was conducted by Sean Fitzgerald, who has been working with The Son-Rise Program® for over seven years and is a certified Son-Rise Program® teacher and child facilitator.
The seminar introduced techniques for parents, facilitators and teachers to encourage breakthroughs in social interaction and communication. Mr Fitzgerald travels internationally, working with children and their families to develop skills.
The Son-Rise Program® promotes itself as 'a powerful, effective and totally unique treatment for children and adults challenged by autism, autism spectrum disorders, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), Asperger's Syndrome, and other developmental difficulties'.
The seminar was well attended and participants received a certificate of attendance. Nataline Gatt, intellectual disability services manager at Ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija, said that in view of the positive response, more seminars of this nature will surely be held. Upcoming projects are also in collaboration with the Son-Rise Institute of the US, are also in the pipeline.
