The Consumers' Association said it has been kept in the dark about an agreement between the government and retailers on the euro changeover process.
The association said that according to an agreement on dual display reached between the National Euro Changeover Committee (NECC) and the Malta Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprise - GRTU, retailers have been exempted from displaying prices in euro and liri on certain products. It was unacceptable that the price of small items such as jewellery were not to be displayed in both currencies, it said.
The government seemed to have changed its position and would not oblige retailers to operate dual pricing, something that was of concern to consumers, the association said.
