Several Christmas activities will take place at the Valletta Waterfront, Viset's spokesman Joshua Giordmaina announced yesterday.

A pre-Christmas concert with Soprano Marita Bezzina will be held on December 9, in aid of Dar il-Kaptan. Tickets at Lm4 are available from Sterling Jewellers at the Waterfront. The concert will be held at the Chapel of the Flight to Egypt by the Holy Family, where two other concerts will be held for the elderly and children with a disability on December 12 and 14.

Santa Claus will distribute gifts to children at various times between December 21 and 24. The Versatile Brass Band will be playing numbers ranging from pop to classical to jazz while singers such as Augusto Cardinale, Ludwig Galea and Natasha and Charlene will be singing on Christmas Eve.

Midnight Mass will be said at the chapel of the Flight to Egypt by the Holy Family.

New Year's Eve will see the Ta' Ciangura folk group performing together with the Versatile Brass Band.

The events are being held in collaboration with the Ministry for Tourism and Culture.

"The Waterfront will be set up with the sights and sounds of Christmas and entrance to any of the activities on the quay will be free," Tourism Ministry spokesman Joseph Borda said.

Mr Borda said the ministry and Viset are also working on a Carnival Street party to be held at the Waterfront in February, details about which will be announced later.
