The Manoel Theatre, in collaboration with the Prague National Theatre and the Consulate of the Czech Republic in Malta, will present the Czech Ballet - a bonanza of classical and contemporary dance performed by the leading soloists of the Prague National Theatre - next week.

It is the second time Malta will host the Czech Ballet, following a successful production at the Manoel Theatre. The performance is the fruit of a long-term cooperation agreement between the Manoel and the Prague National Theatre.

The project originated last year, with support from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Rome.

The main objective of the project is support and mutual recognition in the area of theatre, beaux arts and music, said the Manoel's general manager Judie Farrugia. The performance, on Monday and Tuesday, is "a celebration of the gems of Czech and world ballet choreography, outstandingly rendered by the soloists of Prague's National Theatre Ballet".

The programme will comprise classical and neoclassical pieces as well as works representing the best of contemporary European and world dance creation, such as J. Kylián's Petite Mort, Return to a Strange Land, S. Hounsell's Imprint and I. Galili's Through Nana's Eyes.

Petr Zuska, the artistic director of the National Theatre Ballet in Prague, is accompanying the Czech performers to oversee the production.

Booking is open and early booking is recommended. Reservations can be made by calling the Manoel's booking office on 2124 6389 or sending an e-mail to bookings@teatrumanoel.com.mt.
