Police disrupt theft

The police arrested four would-be thieves after being alerted that someone was trying to force open the door of a car in Birkirkara on Sunday night.

When the police rushed to the spot, near the Birkirkara bus terminus, they found a young man inside the car and arrested him.

Another three youths ran away but were picked up a short time later, the police said.

The police said some damage had been done to the car.

The youths, who are from Hamrun and Birkirkara, were held for questioning.
