The man, 47 pleaded not guilty to defiling the girl and slightly injuring her on and before January this year.

The name of the accused is not being published to protect the girl's identity.

Police Inspectors Raymond Aquilina and Roland Cassar prosecuted.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto appeared for the accused.
