Nissan Note - space matched by pace

Nissan Motors have launched no fewer than three new models on the local market: the Note, the Micra C+C and the Navara pick-up. Speaking on the Nissan Note, Joseph Duca, Mizzi Automotive's divisional manager Sales, said it "combines the interior space of an executive saloon with the agility of a conventional small hatchback".

The unconventional Note is designed to appeal to the head and the heart. "As well as having the roomiest interior in its class - and a wealth of innovative storage opportunities - Note is also fun to drive," Mr Duca said. "After all, an enthusiastic driver does not become uninterested in driving just because children have arrived.

"It has plenty of space for the family, yet has outstanding dynamic qualities, too."

Central to Note's development were the two cornerstones of interior space and positive driving dynamics. A long wheelbase and intelligent packaging took care of the first goal, while further refinements to the established class-leading chassis meant the second was also achieved.

"By listening to those likely to travel in the rear of the new Note, as well as those expecting to ride in the front, Nissan has created arguably the ideal small family car," Mr Duca said. "The design provides plenty of space for passengers and their luggage - and it has a host of unusual storage opportunities, too - but it remains fun to drive."

Standard spec includes a digital trip meter, headlamp leveler, electric front and rear windows, electric speed-sensitive steering, height-adjustable steering wheel, driver seat armrest, air-conditioning with pollen filter, nine-litre glove box, CD radio with four speakers, four air-bags (driver, passenger and side), ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, halogen headlamps with reminder chime, remote central locking and immobiliser.

There is a choice of two engines: a 1.4-litre petrol with 88 PS and 128 Nm of torque (pulling power) and a 1.5-litre diesel with common rail technology and intercooler developing 68 PS and 160 Nm of torque. Starting price is Lm8,500 for the petrol and Lm9,500 for the diesel.

The Note is on display at the Nissan Motors showroom in Antonio Bosio Street, Msida.
