Last month Actavis Ltd donated around 25 million tablets, worth €200,000, to the Centre for Missionary Animation. The medicines to be used to treat infections, tuberculosis, cardiovascular and respiratory disorders.
The Centre for Missionary Animation, founded 25 years ago, is an international entity within the Missionary Society of St Paul, a Maltese order set up by Mgr Giuseppe De Piro.
Medicines donated by Actavis have been shipped to clinics run by the Centre for Missionary Animation in two major cities in Peru, the capital, Lima, and Arequipa.
These medicines will be distributed free of charge to the poor who attend these clinics and who would otherwise not afford to pay for their healthcare.
Actavis Ltd is a subsidiary of the Actavis Group, a multinational pharmaceutical organisation employing 10,000 people in 32 countries. The Maltese operation alone boasts a workforce of 380 highly skilled employees.
