For over half a century, B&M Supplies, now on the Birkirkara Bypass, have earned a reputation as one of the major suppliers to the local building industry and discerning home buyers.
The company founded by their late father Joseph Teddy Mallia is now in the second generation. It is run by three brothers, Raymond, Damian and Martin Mallia. Raymond is in charge of the aftersales, Damian looks after sales and marketing and Martin the administration.
Despite being relatively young, the three have grown up in the business and have a feeling on the pulse of local business. They look after the business hands on, and are constantly available and accessible to all their clients.
"Our ultimate aim is to get the best product, the nicest design at the most affordable prices," Martin explains. "We offer good value for money, according to our slogan 'For quality that lasts'." Knowing the company has a reputation for being expensive, he rebuts:
"People will be surprised how competitive our prices are. We also offer a package that is superior to our competitors, since we have top British quality in our Twyford bathroom range, German quality in our Grohe taps and best quality tiles by Ceramica d'Imola, one of the largest tile producers in the world."
A key to the B&M Supplies business is its state-of-the-art Website, bmsupplies.com. Apart from having all the information on the products on display at their new showroom, you can also obtain free quotations for air-conditioners and a free bathroom layout designed for you - without a commitment to buy.
"All a visitor to the Website needs to do is to fill in the form on the Website with the room measurements and a quotation will be given the next day," Damian said.
Similarly, a free bathroom layout, using the latest computer-aided design programs, is given both to those calling at the showroom and those who fill in the form on the Website.
Designers, architects and others drawing up tender specifications or even shopping around for ideas can visit the Website to obtain all this information plus the latest news about the various products represented by B&M Supplies directly from the Website by linking in to the suppliers' own Websites.
There is one of the largest ranges of tiles on display, including floor and matching staircases in over 2,000 m2 of showroom display area, plus private parking is available adjacent to the showroom.
For the discerning buyer, there is a shop in shop for the Arkim range of top end tiles. There is a full selection of sizes all the way up to 120 cm x 60 cm, including a range of specialised tiles for pool decks.
"We guarantee delivery time," Damian said, adding that stocks are coming in all the time and the displays continually updated.
All the sales staff are professionally trained and updated with the latest technical information on the products. "They are capable of designing a room of your choice and to offer alternatives," Martin said.
The latest innovation is the importation of furniture from Portugal in Wenge, walnut or cherry finish, Persian and hand-made rugs, and oil paintings. The furniture is modern and minimalistic in design yet robust and heavy duty.
Highly versatile, it enables clients to create combinations. All the furniture in the showroom has been hand-picked, providing the best combination of design, quality and price.
Also on display at the B&M Supplies showroom are solar water heaters in stainless steel, air-conditioners with Mitsubishi compressors - installation is within 48 hours - a full range of Tirelli leather sofas, 100 per cent of Italian origin, plumbing systems, vanity units, water heaters, chrome accessories, saunas and steam baths and very trendy mirrors.
"We place a great emphasis on our customer-orientated service and take pride in giving the client a sterling service," Damian said. "Come and see us. You will be pleasantly surprised."
