Union claims shortage of pharmacists

The Health Services Section of the Union Haddiema Maghqudin has requested an urgent meeting with the Health Division to discuss the shortage of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and the increase in the volume of work at government pharmacies.

In its letter to the division, the section referred to the government's recent statement that it was to start giving out cholesterol pills.

The union said that although it was not against the distribution of such pills, the volume of work at pharmacies was to increase especially since the government itself had said that 40,000 patients were now to be entitled to this medicine.

The shortage in pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will also create added physical and mental pressure on these professionals, the union said.
