Emirates Airline is sponsoring a flying visit by a McLaren Mercedes MP4/20 F1 replica showcar to Malta.

F1 racing enthusiasts, in particular McLaren Mercedes fans, will be able to view the car at the Valletta Waterfront between December 1 and 3. The event is being organised by the McLaren F1 Club (Malta) in conjunction with Emirates Airline who entered the high-profile F1 circuit after signing on as McLaren Mercedes partner in March this year.

The McLaren MP4/20s are designed, developed and manufactured at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England. The car took to the track for the first time in January 24 at the Circuit de Catalunya, outside Barcelona, Spain, where Kimi Raikkonen took to the wheel.

The design of the MP4/20 has been heavily influenced by significant revisions to both the sporting and technical regulations that govern F1 in four key areas: engine lifespan, limitations on tyre use, aerodynamics and race weekend format.

Last month, Raikkonen made a spectacular street demonstration in Dubai. He was on a stopover while on his way to Shanghai for the Chinese GP.

In Dubai, the high-flying Finn, who will drive for Ferrari next year, tried his skills on an Emirates' full flight simulator under the guidance of two Maltese captains, Cliff Chetcuti and Sam Refalo.

The McLaren F1 car will be travelling to Malta on an Emirates Airbus A330-200 from Dubai.
