Nine-year-old Nicole Azzopardi, Malta's ambassador for this year's edition of Italy's Zecchino D'Oro, is all set for her performance.
The festival is on all week and the final is due to be aired on Rai Uno on Saturday from 5.15 to 7.15 p.m.
Malta will be represented for the fourth time since the festival became an international song contest in 1976.
There will be 14 songs in this year's event, seven Italian and seven foreign. The Maltese entry, Dottoressa Lulu`, is about a vet who cures animals with love and happiness instead of medicine. Chris Azzopardi and Andrew Zammit penned the song.
Among other international festivals, in 2004 Nicole placed second at Verdinote International Festival held in Italy with the song Sorridi and second in Romania at Ti Amo International Festival with the song Sono Troppo Birichina. Last year she placed a joint first at the Tralcio D'Oro in Italy with the song Che Frana.
