A 36-year-old man was yesterday charged with attempting to seriously injure his estranged wife by trying to run her over with his van in Marsaxlokk last March 8.

He was also charged with attacking and seriously injuring the woman by punching and kicking her.

Being a public officer, the man was further charged with committing a crime he was in duty bound to prevent.

Police Inspector Anthony Cassar prosecuted.
