Depiro swept aside the challenge of Loyola, 53-43, to gain revenge for their defeat to the same opponents in the MBA Shield.

In the other matches, Luxol overwhelmed Sliema Wanderers while Kerygma obtained their first league win against SN Suns.

In the main match of the weekend, Depiro handed Loyola their first defeat to stay on top of the Peugeot League standings.

The game was balanced with Depiro nosing ahead with two consecutive baskets late in the first session, 12-8. With neither side able to gain the upperhand, Depiro went into half-time only a basket ahead, 22-20.

Depiro were the better side in the third session to go seven points clear, 39-32. Loyola failed to wipe out the gap and lost 53-43.

Despite missing some players, Luxol were never troubled by newcomers Sliema Wanderers, winning 81-22.

Kerygma collected their first league victory at the expense of SN Suns who are still searching for their first success since entering the women's league last year.

After potting the first eight points, Kerygma led 27-15 at half-time. Kerygma increased their pressure after the interval and a series of three-pointers from Josette Calleja helped them to a 63-26 victory.
