No home porting next year
Star Cruises were no longer homeporting the cruise ship Libra at Malta because of a change of strategy and the ship was needed for gambling cruises in Asia, Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said yesterday. Replying to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Evarist Bartolo, the minister said that in the past, Grand Harbour was used as a home port by My Travel and Louis Cruises.
The minister said that there would be turnarounds by several cruise ships next year and negotiations were being held for homeporting operations in 2008.
