Rangers returned to second place with a 1-0 win at Hearts in their Scottish Premier League clash yesterday courtesy of a fine goal from Nacho Novo.

The Spanish striker hit a wonderful 25-metre shot after gathering the ball in the middle of the pitch and surging forward on 78 minutes.

His low, angled drive from the right took a slight deflection off Hearts defender Christophe Berra and spun further away from keeper Craig Gordon into the bottom left hand corner.

Champions Celtic top the standings with 40 points from 15 games following their comfortable 3-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday. Rangers have 25 points from 15 and a better goal difference than third-placed Aberdeen.
