My wife and I have just returned from a holiday in Malta staying at the Qawra Palace Hotel. We have visited Malta in the past and enjoyed our stay.

This time, however, our holiday was marred by intimidation, abuse and being sworn at by the hoard of time-share sellers in and around the Qawra area particularly around the bus station and seafront area.

Should the police or the government not be protecting their image as a safe holiday island and not somewhere where guests think twice about leaving their hotels because of these people, none of whom were Maltese but British, Scottish and East European?

Next time I plan a holiday this experience will make me think twice about returning to what was a lovely island to holiday on.
