A total of 228 songs have been submitted for the Maltasong for Europe Festival, which will be cut down to 50 by a panel of judges towards the end of this week.
The 50 songs that make it to the second phase will have to score 50 per cent of the total number of points or more. Those that score less will have failed to reach the required standard and cannot qualify for the second round.
The results of the first round will be announced on the Maltasong Website on November 27. Singers can only sing two songs in the second phase and these will be the two that scored the highest number of points in the first phase of adjudication.
The second phase will be held on December 9. For the second phase, the song will be performed live before a panel of foreign judges.
