• Zebbug's St Mary parish celebrates the feast of the St Fortunatus the Martyr today with a Pontifical concelebrated Mass led by Bishop Mario Grech at 8.30 a.m. At 4 p.m., Vicar-General Mgr Giovanni Bosco Gauci leads a concelebrated Mass, with the participation of the parish orchestra and choirs. A procession with the relic of the saint will follow, accompanied by the St Mary Band. There will also be a fireworks display.

• Bishop Grech celebrates a thanksgiving Mass at the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul in Nadur today at 9.30 a.m. to mark Nadur Day and the inauguration of the new council offices. President Edward Fenech Adami will attend the Mass.

At 10.30, the President will visit the Mnarja Band Club and the Nadur Youngsters nursery in the Peter Paul Camilleri Ground. The Mnarja Band will play marches while making its way to the square and North Street.

At 11.15, President Fenech Adami will inaugurate the new council offices in South Street, which will be blessed by Bishop Grech. At 3 p.m., sports activities for children will be held in the Boys' MUSEUM ground.

An exhibition of works by an Italian artist from Cicciano, Guido Laperuta, will be opened tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the new council hall, which will be named after former mayor Joe Tabone.

• The Ghaqda Hbieb tal-Presepju Ghawdex is holding its annual Christmas seminar in Qala today. Canon Dr Joe Zammit will celebrate Mass at the parish church at 10 a.m. Julian Scicluna will give a talk on the art of clay figurines and give a demonstration. • Eight Below is showing at the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, today at 5.30 p.m. The Don Bosco Oratory is presenting the musical Treasure Island, with music by Mro Alfred Arnold and script by Toni Mizzi, based on the Robert Louis Stevenson classic, today and on Saturday at 7.30 p.m.

• Bishop Mario Grech will give a lecture on the Hierarchical Constitution of the Church as part of the theology courses for the laity at the Sacred Heart Seminary, Victoria on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Fr George Mercieca will talk about God's attributes.

• Wirt Ghawdex is organising a public lecture entitled "The Making of the Maltese Language" by Dr Joe Zammit Ciantar, lecturer of Maltese at the University of Malta Junior College, at the Gozo Ministry Victoria, on Friday at 6.30 p.m. The talk will give a general idea of the political, historical, and linguistic background that transformed an Arabic dialect into the Maltese language, and should be of particular interest to sixth form students who have Maltese linguistics as part of their curriculum. Entrance is free.
