Bank of Valletta has once again this year teamed up with Equal Partners Foundation and is supporting the fourth edition of Valletta Week - a cultural event being organised as part of the foundation's Partners in Culture initiative that involves all schools in Malta and Gozo.
The two-week event was launched on Monday at the Malta Experience Hall in Valletta by Colin Galea, president of Equal Partners, Clyde Puli, MP, the mayor of Valletta, Dr Paul Borg Olivier, and Priscilla Attard, manager of BoV's Waterfront branch, in the presence of 170 students from Ghaxaq, Gzira and Qormi primary schools
Addressing the students, Mr Galea explained that Partners in Culture consists of a schedule of cultural and fund-raising activities that involve the participation of school children.
The aim of this initiative is to raise funds to support programmes for persons with disability and/or learning difficulties who receive support services through the foundation, while at the same time returning something of cultural value to those students who are contributing to the foundation's mission.
Addressing the students, Ms Attard reiterated the bank's commitment to support initiatives promoting Malta's cultural heritage.
"We are delighted to support the fourth edition of Valletta Week. Both culture and social initiatives are major themes within BoV's community programme. The bank's association with this event is part of our efforts to help with promoting Malta's rich cultural heritage. It also underlines our support to Equal Partners Foundation, highlighting to the children present at Valletta Week the importance of assisting those who may be in greater need," concluded Ms Attard.
Through Valletta Week, which is on until Friday, school children can visit four sites of cultural heritage within our capital city, including The Malta Experience, The Knights Hospitallers, the War Museum and Fort St Elmo.
Around 1,000 students from various schools around Malta and Gozo are expected to participate. Besides teachers and facilitators, there will be a number of volunteers and First Aiders from St John Ambulance who will accompany the children.
In the mornings, students are being given some time for a short break at the Police Academy, where they will be offered refreshments, kindly sponsored by the event's official sponsors, namely General Soft Drinks, local manufacturers of Kristal water, and P. Cutajar & Co Ltd, local importers of Ferrero Kinder Brioss.
Equal Partners would like to thank Gasan Mamo Insurance Ltd and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta for also supporting this event and to express its appreciation and gratitude to the management of all the sites for their constant co-operation to make this event possible.
Thanks are also extended to all the volunteers from St John Ambulance for offering to be present during the entire mornings to attend to any emergency.
