Over 200 Form II students are taking part in the second phase of the nationwide campaign on climate change, launched in schools this month.

The campaign, entitled You Control Climate Change, seeks to raise awareness of climate change and about individual and collective responsibilities towards the environment.

Eight classes of secondary students in St Augustine's College, Marija Regina, Dun Guzepp Brighella, St Benedict's College, Margaret Mortimer, St Monica, Sir Temi Zammit and San Andrea are making small changes in their daily habits to combat climate change. These include switching off unnecessary electrical appliances, switching off the TV set rather than leaving it on standby, recycling waste and walking.

A specially-developed range of information tools and materials on climate change is being used by students who are being supervised by their teachers. Students will take part in an end-of-campaign activity in December, which will include discussions, a video screening and an art installation activity.
