Spaces at the new parking lot in Blata l-Bajda were all taken up yesterday morning as this aerial picture by Victor Mercieca shows.

A spokesman for the Malta Transport Authority said that a total of 1,200 passengers had used the shuttle service to Valletta by 4 p.m. yesterday, with 1,253 users recorded on Monday and 1,104 on Tuesday.

The scheme, introduced last week, offers parking and a mini-van transport to Valletta at no charge. Aimed at easing congestion and traffic in the capital, the scheme has been welcomed as efficient so far. There are 600-odd parking spaces and another 300 are planned.
