\nThe first encounter of the season between these two great rivals of local handball did not disappoint those present at the University Sports Hall last weekend.
Aloysians drew first blood as after a minute they scored the opening goal. It took another minute for La Salle to equalise and already yellow cards were being shown.
After a patch during which both sides traded goals, La Salle got somewhat stuck at seven goals as Aloysians forged ahead to open a gap. They kept their momentum to go in for the break leading by five goals.
La Salle looked more convincing after the interval and started to work their way back into contention. At one stage they were only two goals behind.
Aloysians gradually regained their touch and the team started to play better. They took control and re-established their five-goal lead which they preserved until the end for three precious points.
The standings now see Aloysians solely on top with La Salle Nespak behind in second place.
