MEPA, is issuing for public consultation updates to the Design and Policy Guidance, DC2005.

The Authority is putting up for public consultation amendments which will repeal certain policies in the previous document published last year.

DC 2005 is a compendium of policy and design guidelines, mostly for the use of architects and those connected to the construction industry.

The proposed amendments are essentially due to fine tuning resulting from practical experience.

• Policy 10.1(e) - A covered corridor is now being allowed with washrooms where a penthouse is permitted: As such Policy 10.1 is being repealed with below.

• Policy 10.4 (e) - Reference to 56 square metres is being removed in view of Policy 10.6.

• Policy 10.5(vi) - Solar water heaters and services are removed to be in line with Policy 13.5.

• Policy 10.6 - A paragraph in the supporting text has been added to clarify that a penthouse is not restricted to residential use only. Cross-reference in part A(g) changed from 11.8 to 11.6 and clarification that access to the roof is for the purpose of maintenance only added.

• Policy 11.5 - Dimension (more than 2.5m) in Diagram 11.5(b) included, similar to Diagram 11.5(a).
