About 1,000 school children will be taken to see sites of cultural heritage in Valletta this week and the next under an initiative of the Equal Partners Foundation.

The aim of Valletta Week is to raise funds to support the foundation's programmes for persons with disability and/or learning difficulties while giving back something of cultural value to the students who are contributing to the foundation's mission.

Valletta Week started yesterday and lasts until November 24. The students will visit The Malta Experience, The Knights Hospitallers, The National War Museum and Fort St Elmo.

Yesterday's official launch was presided over by Clyde Puli MP in the presence of Valletta mayor Paul Borg Olivier and the president of Equal Partners Colin Galea.

Equal Partners thanked the management of all the sites, St John's Ambulance and the official sponsors of Valletta Week: Bank of Valletta, The Order of the Knights of Malta, Gasan Mamo Insurarance Ltd, The General Soft Drinks Co. Ltd. and P. Cutajar & Co Ltd.
