A week of Beaujolais Nouveau

The InterContinental Hotel will have a flavour of French on Friday as Malta joins other countries to celebrate the arrival of this year's Beaujolais Nouveau.

The wine, which is released annually on the third Thursday in November, began as a local phenomenon in the bars, cafés and bistros of the Beaujolais region. Today more than 70 million bottles are sold worldwide, with some of them arriving in Malta this week.

The hotel's executive chef, Max Grenard, and chef Christian Schirmann, who is coming to Malta for the occasion, are preparing a special French bistro menu, with typical dishes of the Beaujolais region and a range of Burgundy specialities. The menu will be served at Soprano restaurant between Friday and November 25.

The wine will be available with specially designed menus featuring the region's cuisine at Eastern Breeze, Paranga and Carissa.

Beaujolais stations and platters will also be available at Harruba and the Lobby Bar.
