The Medical Council said it is investigating allegations of breach of professional ethics in connection with the participation of medical practitioners in the television makeover programme Arani Issa.
In a statement yesterday, the council said it has decided to write to all the doctors and dentists who took part in the TVM programmes in the series to investigate allegations that their participation was in breach of professional ethics.
Arani Issa is presented by Joseph Chetcuti on Mondays after the 8 p.m. news.
In a statement last month, the Medical Council said it would be taking disciplinary action against Dr Josie Muscat for allegedly breaching both the law and medical ethics.
Referring to Arani Issa, the Medical Council said it would also be seeing whether any steps should be taken against other medical practitioners who took part in the programme.
The Medical Council said it considered the programme to be "more of an advertorial and a spectacle rather than an informative programme about medical care".
The first programme in the series dealt with liposuctions that Chiara, the singer, had at St James Hospital and the medical team involved spoke in the course of the programme.
