MCAST is a leading training institution for further initial and continuous vocational and professional development. The college adopts a flexible approach in order to respond to organisational requirements.

The college focuses on the participants' individual needs. The way in which working environments and opportunities are changing leaves little space for the idea of 'a job for life'. With today's dynamic economy and labour market needs, the idea that a person aims at having one job for life is no longer the case and lifelong learning is the reality.

Day-to-day challenges between market players demand greater employee flexibility and responsiveness. Modern business structures, fast technological developments, ever changing and more complex environments, driven by a variety of factors such as new technologies, evolving labour markets and changing employment practices, all imply the need for ongoing training and the reskilling of individuals.

Customised training has become the means to retrain and reskill the workforce quickly and effectively. Ad hoc training will help employees shift into doing other tasks quickly and capably with minimal waste in time and resources. Such training is aimed at helping individuals acquire skills and knowledge on new systems and procedures while further developing learning capabilities.

MCAST believes that a well-trained and well-motivated workforce can help maximise efficiency and productivity, thus having a major impact on the success of a business. Our aim is to encourage employers to motivate their workers to attend training programmes, which will contribute to the continuous improvement of the organisation that employs them.

These training programmes are mainly aimed at instructing personnel who may be inexperienced in certain fields and get them 'in tune' faster, explaining the key points related to the field of knowledge and competence.

At MCAST ad hoc training is designed around the individual needs of the employee in line with the ultimate objective of the employer. The training is aimed at logically identifying training needs and delivering the required knowledge and skills necessary to assist in the on-the-job transition from one discipline to another.

This will also, indirectly, enhance employment opportunities and strengthen human resources in the labour market by providing the participant's organisation with the much needed skills, expertise as well as recognised qualifications.

As part of the strategy to provide vocational and professional education for all, MCAST has broadened its training provision services aimed at becoming a 'vocational training institution' for industry.

The college offers a wide variety of training programmes which not only create more opportunities to further utilise and share its resources for the good of the community but also assist organisations to make up for the shortage of trained and skilled personnel when they are needed most, addressing the shortfall brought about because of changing industry needs.

Through customised training, MCAST aims at bringing a fresh approach to workforce development and training. Ad hoc training programmes and approaches used at MCAST are designed to help employees improve on their own work methods using existing resources and gaining potential career broadening opportunities.

They are also designed to help in the shift from one job to another; activities, which could be remotely connected to each other. Each learning programme is designed to merge the policies and practices, needs and aspirations of the client organisation.

MCAST tailors provision around the client and the client's individual needs. Training for Industry (T-4-I) programmes include training plans developed to meet particular needs of a specific organisation, while sustaining individual progress and economic demands.
