Valletta Fund Management launched a new, innovative multi-manager fund - the Vilhena Dynamic Multi-Manager Fund, which aims to provide a positive return under all market conditions.
The fund's investment objective is to seek to provide investors with positive total returns with the prospect of long-term capital growth.
To reduce the volatility of investment market cycles, the fund has the flexibility to invest either indirectly through collective investment schemes or directly in different asset classes, namely bonds, equities, cash and property.
Exposure to property will be attained through securities issued by property management companies and/or property financing companies or through collective investment schemes that invest in such securities.
The fund also aims to have an exposure to commodity funds and absolute return funds.
This innovative investment solution is designed to appeal to low/medium risk profile investors who seek to take advantage of the flexibility offered by the structure of this fund.
Additionally, through the multi-manager approach, investors gain access to a careful selection of assets managed by several experts in the field, each applying different strategies and techniques, further complimenting the fund's strength through diversity.
It reflects the capabilities of Insight Investment's, the fund's sub-investment manager, strong multi-manager investment team, led by director of Fund and Manager Selection, Patrick Armstrong, and director of Portfolio Strategy and Construction, Dr Ana Cukic-Munro.
Commenting on this launch, Charles Borg, executive head CEO's office at Bank of Valletta plc, said: "At Valletta Fund Management Ltd we seek to develop solutions to match investors' needs.
"The flexibility of this fund to use a wide range of asset classes to manage risk and return has long been proven in the institutional market and now we have the flexibility to share this with retail investors.
"We believe that a multi-manager structure is very beneficial for this type of product. The manager selection process used by Insight Investment allows the multi-manager team to select what they believe to be the best managers in each of the diverse specialist areas of the assorted asset classes this fund will invest in."
Mr Borg added: "We believe this product genuinely represents a new way to invest. We also appreciate that a new investment concept such as this must be thoroughly explained.
"In this regard, we will be helping our intermediaries to ensure that investors understand the concept of this fund and the way risk is managed. Undoubtedly, there is a big shift in the industry towards multi-manager funds and we believe our new fund will fit in very well with our existing range of multi-manager funds."
